What English level do I need to join your courses?
We welcome students from complete beginners (A1) to advanced (C2). All students take a placement test on arrival to ensure they are placed in the correct class for their level. If you're unsure of your level, we can arrange an online pre-arrival assessment.
How long should I study for the best results?
Even one week of intensive study can make a significant difference. For substantial progress, we recommend a minimum of 4–8 weeks. For exam preparation (IELTS, Cambridge), 6–12 weeks is optimal to reach your target score. Our team can advise on the ideal duration based on your goals.
What is the minimum age to join your courses?
Our adult programmes welcome students aged 16 and above. For our Summer and Winter School, we also accept students aged 16+. Parents of younger students should contact us directly to discuss options.
Can I study part-time while working?
Yes! We offer flexible scheduling with morning (9:30–12:30) or afternoon (14:00–17:00) classes. One-to-one tuition can also be arranged around your schedule. Contact us to discuss a programme that fits your availability.
Do I need a visa to study in Northern Ireland?
Visa requirements depend on your nationality. EU/EEA citizens do not need a visa. Students from outside the EU may need a Student Visitor Visa or Short-term Study Visa. We can provide acceptance letters and documentation to support your visa application. Contact us for country-specific guidance.

What accommodation options are available?
We offer two main options: (1) Full-board homestay with local Derry families — includes breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner every day. (2) Self-catering city centre apartments — fully furnished with shared facilities. Minimum age for self-catering is 18. Contact us for current availability and pricing.
How do I arrange airport transfers?
We can arrange airport pickup and drop-off from Dublin Airport or Belfast airports. Please contact us at least one week before arrival with your flight details. Transfer costs are additional to course fees.
Is homestay accommodation included in the course fee?
Homestay accommodation is available as an add-on to all courses. Prices vary by season and room type. Contact us for current rates and availability. We also accept students who arrange their own accommodation.
Erasmus+ & Funding
Who is eligible for Erasmus+ funding?
Erasmus+ funding is available to teachers and students from EU countries. Individual teachers, school groups, and organisations can apply through their national agency. Contact us to discuss your eligibility and we can provide supporting documentation for your application.
What documents do I need for my Erasmus+ application?
We provide: detailed course programmes, Europass-compatible descriptions, accommodation details, cultural activity schedules, insurance requirements, attendance certificates, and learning outcome documentation. Contact us for a full information pack.
Teacher Training
What is the difference between CertTESOL and TKT?
CertTESOL is a full initial teacher training qualification (equivalent to a Level 5 certificate) that qualifies you to teach English as a foreign language worldwide. TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) is a modular knowledge test — ideal for professional development and enhancement of existing qualifications. CertTESOL is the deeper qualification; TKT is the broader knowledge credential.
Do I need a degree to take the CertTESOL?
Most CertTESOL providers require applicants to be graduates or have equivalent experience. Contact us to discuss your individual circumstances and qualifications — we assess each application on a case-by-case basis.
Exams
Can I take my IELTS exam in Derry?
Yes! We are the official IELTS Test Centre at SERC Derry/Londonderry. You can prepare with us and take your exam on-site — no travel to Dublin or Belfast required. We offer regular test dates throughout the year.
What Cambridge exams do you prepare students for?
We prepare students for all Cambridge main suite exams: B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE), and C2 Proficiency (CPE). We can also arrange exam entry at approved Cambridge centres. Our teachers are experts in Cambridge paper formats and marking criteria.
